About the Museum
To collect, conserve, exhibit and study collections of artefacts, archival documents, books and illustrations that show the presence and influence of European civilization on the history of New France and North America.
To make known this history to its public through the development of programmes using a global approach to history wherein social, political, military, scientific and technological themes are related one to another.
The Stewart Museum wishes to be percieved as a unique Montreal institution, where history comes to life through programs both innovative and varied, favouring a privileged relationship with artefacts, those witnesses of our past.
The Museum will preserve its reputation as a centre of excellence in research, conservation, interpretation as well as in exhibiting both its collections and the heritage of St. Helen’s Island, for the benefit and well-being of the population of Greater Montreal and its visitors.
